Mrs. Carrie Belle Luckett, 96, a longtime resident of Crawfordsville, died Sunday at 11:30 p.m. in the Ben Hur Nursing Home. She had been in failing health several years. Born Feb. 9, 1872 on the Lebanon Road nine miles east of Crawfordsville, she was the daughter of Daniel and Sarah Hymer Shaver. She married G. Bruce Luckett on Aug. 28, 1895 in Crawfordsville. He preceded her in death in 1951. They resided at 401 Tinsley Ave. most of their married life. Mrs. Luckett was a member of the Wabash Avenue Presbyterian Church, a charter member of the Art League, Busy Bunch Club, Forget-Me-Not Club, Merry Drifters and was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include a son-in-law, Robert E. "Pete" Vaughn of Crawfordsville, and several nieces and nephews, among them, Jesse Caster, Noel Shaver, Mrs. Glen Saidia, Mrs. Forest Ward, all of Crawfordsville, Robert Shaver of Honolulu and Willis Farris of Davenport, Iowa. Services will be conducted at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home 2:30 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Larimore Wickett officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
